She came, she wowed the audiences and she disappeared. Later, it was hot news when she married her yoga teacher Bharath Thakur. But now, Bhumika is back in front of the camera. The lady is now doing Yagam in Telugu. From her debut film Yuvakudu, the beautiful Punjabi lass have done soft-spoken, demure, touch-me-not type of roles.
But then, she disappeared all of a sudden. Ask her what happened and she replies, “After doing 27 films in five years in five languages — Telugu (15), Hindi (7), Tamil (3), Punjabi (1) and Bhojpuri (1), I fell in love and got married. Now, 18 months after my marriage, I’m back to films in south.” But then, why did she take a break when her career was peaking? Says she, “My thought process is entirely different. I met Guruji (Bharath Thakur) and thought he is the right man for me. He is a wonderful person, a great human being and an extremely loving husband. I didn’t want to fall into the rut of doing another film before getting married. In life, there is no end as our desires increase proportionately with the number of hits.”
The actress certainly seems to know what she wants and says with certainty that her marriage won’t hamper her career. “Kajol, Juhi and Madhuri are married women and are still having a great innings. In India, some of the most successful people in corporates, banking and lifestyle are all married women. Times have changed, I think our audiences have matured and are accepting married women as heroines,” she explains.
