Born on 17th June , 1981, a Gemini knows Hindi, English, Marathi and Konkani. Amrita Rao with her cute , natural beauty ventured into the big world of Hindi Movies while she was auditioning for an advertisement of Fairever fairness cream ad. She never aspired to be a full time actress as she was born into a well to do Chitrapur Brahmin family but destiny had a lot in store for her when she got selected for that advertisement . She was selected for the close –up ad and after that she became the model for top brands of the country. After that she never had to turn back and has been loaded with numerous offers both for movies and advertisements. Her debut film was Ab ke Baras realesed in 2002 for which she even got nomination for the screen weekly awards for the Most Promising Newcomer .She came out as a real winner with her dancng skills , innocent looks and decent acting skills . She was later seen in Rajkumar Santoshi's The Legend of Bhagat Singh. But all the while she was not much of a recognized face in the film industry. It was Ken ghosh's 'Ishq Vishk Pyaar Vyaar' which brought her to public notice. The day her film Ishq Vishk was released. It took a bumper opening . The audience response was so positive and overwhelming. This movie proved to be her stepping stone to success and fame. The other movies in line for her were 'Masti', 'Main Hoon Na' and 'Deewar- Let's Bring Our Heroes Home'. Of these once again 'Masti' and 'Main Hoon Na' were hit movies.Amrita was appreciated for her work in both the films. In 'Main hoon Na' she played a college girl absolute contrast to the one she played in Ishq Vishk Pyaar Vyaar. Masti was a comedy film in which she played a house wife who behaves in a peculiar fashion. She was nominated for the filmfare award in the category of the Best Actress in a supporting role . Doing a Shah Rukh Khan film immediately increased her national and overseas market.Amrita Rao is a good actress. and peole are quite correct in stating she is cute, Amrita's performancs in Main Hoo Naa was nothing short of brilliant. She looked good in her last film Vivah. Amrita Rao has taken a new role now. She has turned director. Well, not in real life but in reel life. She will be essaying the role of an assistant director in her next film My Name is Anthony Gonsalves. We can all look forward to her role in this movie which is produced by T-Series, directed by E.Niwas and presented by Shah Rukh Khan and starring a new comer Nikhil Dwivedi.
This would be her second movie with Sha Rukh Khan , the first being Amin Hoon Na .
