Salman Khan is now talking business with Sony TV; he is set to host the second season of Dus Ka Dum. But this time he will not be as involved with the show as he was last year. A source said, "This is a result of the huge pay cut that has happened this season. It is believed that Salman was paid Rs 89 crore in the first season, but in the second season he will be paid only Rs 44 crore.And with the pay cut, Salman has also cut down on his involvement. He has refused to use his clout with his star friends and colleagues to get them on the show." A source close to the actor said, "Salman recently had a meeting with the programming heads. He made it very clear that he would no longer be responsible for inviting his friends and celebs as guests on the show. He will do his job of hosting and that will be about it."

Sexy Shriya is said to be unwilling to return the advance amount she received from a Tamil producer. Shriya was actually roped in for a new movie titled ‘Asal’and was paid advance amount. Gautam Menon was supposed to direct the film, but later another man turned up to wield the megaphone.Sources reveal that due to this, there was change in script and Shriya’s role was said to be reduced quite a bit. Sadaa is anxiously waiting for her Bollywood debut Click in which she plays the lead opposite Shreyas Talpade. “I play the role of a glamourous model in the film,” she says. Sadaa claims that there is no language barrier for actors and she’s game for meaty roles in any regional film. “I have also dabbled with Tamil films recently,” she adds.But she hasn’t really been able to cash in on her success. “Add to that my female-oriented roles scuttled my career,” she rues. I met Guruji (Bharath Thakur) and thought he is the right man for me. He is a wonderful person, a great human being and an extremely loving husband. I didn’t want to fall into the rut of doing another film before getting married. In life, there is no end as our desires increase proportionately with the number of hits.”
The actress certainly seems to know what she wants and says with certainty that her marriage won’t hamper her career. “Kajol, Juhi and Madhuri are married women and are still having a great innings. In India, some of the most successful people in corporates, banking and lifestyle are all married women. Times have changed, I think our audiences have matured and are accepting married women as heroines,” she explains.

Film is all I know now, she tells,How is it managing two careers, one as a model, and the other as an actress?I was an actress before being a model. Being a very selfish person, I didn't like walking the ramp with 101 girls. Soon I started taking up ads. I started getting offers from Chennai, Hyderabad and other places. Two ads in particular triggered a number of movie offers, one was the Fast Track Cooling Glasses ad that I did with John Abraham and the other was for No Marks cream. These got me my break in Telugu — Bujjigadu.You quit your studies in the process..My career is a priority right now but for the long run I do understand the importance of a degree. After PUC from Sindhi College, I have not been able to cope with my studies. However, I intend to build my determination and complete my graduation.You seem to prefer Telugu films now...
For me, it’s just that the languages are different. Apart from this, the films are one and the same. But there is a fact worth stating. The number of studios in Hyderabad outnumbers those in Karnataka. The reach of Andhra movies is much wider than the reach of Kannada movies. Telugu movies get dubbed in many other languages which is not true of Kannada movies. Therefore, I feel that Telugu movies has a lot to give me. I will get a lot of exposure through Telugu movies and I am looking forward to working in many more of them. But rather than segregating movies on basis of regions, it really depends more on script. If I find the script to be interesting, then I don’t mind taking up roles in different languages.Are you comfortable with any kind of role now?t is very important for an actress to analyse herself. After playing the role of a sexy girl in my debut movie, people perceived me as bad. But since, I believe in experimenting with the roles, I am ready to explore. Personally speaking, I feel that I have the ‘girl-next-door’ streak in me. This is why I am waiting for a woman-oriented script. I am quite open to glamourous roles but not steamy and sexy ones.
What about Hindi films?
Right now, I am content with the kind of movies that I am getting in Kannada and Telugu. There are innumerable offers flowing from there. The Telugu film industry, especially, is very welcoming. I also might get into Tamil movies in a short while. So for now, I am not thinking of setting my foot in Bollywood.
Rumour says you are dating Bangalore Royal Challenger batsman Virat Kohli. Is it true?
(Smiles) We are just good friends. I am too young to get into a relationship.
What’s next for you?
I have three films coming up this year — Ee Sanje in Kannada, Police Police and Samardhudu in Telugu. The release of the movies have been delayed due to IPL matches. Samardhudu is an out-and-out Telugu film; Krishnamraju, the legendary actor, is the biggest USP of the movie. The film is going to feature five songs and I am really looking forward to it. Apart from this, I just intend to go in the flow and have fun. I hope that my films do well and I get highly recognised. I can opt for modelling too, but only if I am the showstopper or the brand ambassadress.

Now Vishal is all set to return with a bang Thoranai. It is said to be a ‘search drama’ “You could describe it so,” laughs Vishal. Thoranai is the story of a man who comes to the city looking for his lost brother. Surprisingly, the debacle of Sathyam hasn’t deterred its hero from teaming up with a first-time helmsman once again. “I’ve always been working with new directors. And I stand by Rajasekar. I feel he worked to the best of his ability,” he reasons. Sad that his best wasn’t good enough! But at some point the output ought to have rung a warning bell — after all Sathyam was a home production. “Let’s be practical. We are filmmakers, not astrologers.”Vishal avers that he goes by his gut feeling when accepting or rejecting an offer. “Intuition decides my career moves,” he smiles. Vishal prefers to work in one film at a time. “Working in a film is like being with a girlfriend. You have to be loyal to it till it lasts,” he laughs aloud. Before Sathyam he had plans of donning the director’s cap. “But post Sathyam I decided I needed more time.”
Much of the shooting of Thoranai is taking place in Hyderabad. Incidentally, the film is a bi-lingual — it will be called Pista in Telugu. Working in two languages simultaneously should have its advantages, “Yes … and disadvantages too,” he smiles. “The work is two-fold as we shoot with a different cast (except of course the main players) for each language and we have to find a script that would appeal to the tastes of filmgoers in both the States. The advantage is that you cater for a wider audience and hence the popularity is more.” The Thoranai unit is moving to Ladakh for shoot. “I’m excited. I’ve always wanted to shoot in the Himalayas,” says Vishal. With a home production backing him to the hilt, anything is possible.

Asin’s devoted dad refuses to get surgery done in spite of the acute pain. Joseph Thottumkal currently in hospital has been attending to all of his daughter’s business calls from the bed. “He's on drip. No food allowed. Na ghar ka na hospital ka...and still he’s constantly on the phone discussing and confirming my prior engagements. He’s very clear on one thing. Under no circumstance am I supposed to let any of my commitments suffer because of his hospitalisation,” says the proud, devoted, emotional and slightly bereft but strong daughter, unwilling to show her emotions.As her father prepares to go under the knife for an appendectomy, for the first time in her life Asin has to managed her life and career without her father. To compound her distress, Asin’s mother, who’s a doctor, is also spending as much time with Joseph Thottumkal as possible, leaving Asin with no choice but to fend for herself in the house.“My father was in pain for sometime. He tried to play it down, took painkillers. But then it got worse. For the first time in my professional career I found myself traveling alone to Bangalore for a commitment. It felt... different. But one has to manage. I’d like to believe I’m quite a capable girl.” Asin returned from Bangalore on Sunday and rushed straight to the Kokilabhen Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital where her father had been admitted. “It’s quite near to where we live, yet seems so far away....” Though she puts up a brave front it isn’t easy. “That’s why he has been avoiding getting into the hospital. He felt if he was off his feet my work would suffer. But this time I’m determined to prove him wrong. I’ll continue my work in his absence. In fact I’m going to be shooting for an ad today, Tuesday. Will I miss my dad? He has taught me to be a strong girl.”

Puffing away on a cigarette to absorb the tension of the Indian Premier League has put Bollywood super star and owner of Kolkata Knight Riders team Shah Rukh Khan in a spot with the anti-smoking lobby. The National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE), on Saturday protested against the filmstar who was shown on television smoking during an IPL match against Kings XI Punjab in Durban, on April 21. NOTE has asked the South African National Council Against Smoking (NCAS) to consider the issue seriously and ban smoking in the stadium during IPL matches."I chatted with them and sent details and to Supersport, who are the broadcasters. I am soliciting an agreement that they will not show anyone smoking," Peter Ucko from NCAS informed NOTE. NOTE General Secretary Shekhar Salkar said they had contacted NCAS to explore possibilities to prevent such incidents in the future. The NCAS in their reply has said that the Act which will ban smoking in sport stadium is not yet in force in South Africa , but smoking is not permitted in certain enclosures. NOTE said that in the absence of a law, a request has been made to Khan to quit smoking for his own well being.
